Your Island Beads pieces are made to be worn, loved, and enjoyed every day. Most of our jewelry is crafted with 14k or 18k gold-plated materials, so a little extra care will help keep your pieces looking their best for longer.

To Extend the Life of Your Jewelry

• Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, exercising, or sleeping.
• Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, sunscreen, self-tanners, and cleaning products.
• Store your jewelry in a dry place when not in use. It is best to store in a jewelry pouch or plastic bag, as prolonged exposure to light and oxygen can speed up wear and tarnishing
• Gently wipe pieces with a soft cloth after wearing to remove oils and residue.
• Remove your jewelry before sleeping to avoid damage and tangling

Every person’s skin chemistry is unique. Factors such as body oils, skin pH, lotions, perfumes, medications, sweat, and daily activities can affect how jewelry wears over time. Because of this, the lifespan of gold-plated jewelry may vary from person to person.

Like all gold-plated jewelry, some fading and wear over time is natural and expected with regular use. Some customers may wear the same piece for years with little change, while others may notice wear sooner. This is completely normal and unique to each wearer.

Natural shell beads and stones may also vary in color and can soften or fade slightly over time with prolonged exposure to sun, water, and everyday wear.

A Little Extra Note: Our jewelry is handmade and some components, such as jump rings and clasps, can be delicate. If your jewelry becomes snagged, pulled, or caught on something, parts may loosen or come apart. If a charm falls off or a clasp breaks, please send us a message.
